Fabric Care Guide
- Always follow washing instructions
- It is advisable to dry-clean velvets, velours, chenilles, tapestries and fabrics containing wool and silk.
- Dry clean lined fabrics, such as curtains, to ensure neither fabric shrinks.
- Wash fine fabrics and loose weaves, such as lace and netting, frequently as they do tend to collect dirt.
- Neutral linens and white cottons may be dirt collectors but they can often be washed at very high temperatures.
- For a crisp finish, iron cotton, silk and linen while slightly damp.
- Wool items should be ironed when almost dry for best results.
- To prevent unwanted sheen on synthetic fabrics, always iron on the wrong side.
- Avoid using steam iron on acrylic as this can cause stretching.
- Velvets and cut pile fabrics should be laid face down on a thick towel and pressed on the wrong side to avoid crushing the fibres.
